The Sparkling Dahi Handi

With the rise of a sparkling sun on a bright Monday morning, a ‘Golden Dahi Handi’ sparkled too, welcoming the joyous occasion of Janmashtami. ‘The Gold Leafing Studio’ had glided pure 24k gold on three dahi handis that were put up in the Panch Pakhadi area at Thane. However, this wasn’t the first time that ‘The Gold Leafing Studio’ had undertaken such a task. They had glided gold to dahi handis last year as well for Janmashtami that were put up in Thane.

Janmashtami is an occasion widely celebrated in India which marks the birth of Lord Krishna. Several devotees across India celebrated this festival with unmatchable exhilaration and enthusiasm. Troops of devotees formed human pyramids and cracked the dahi handi that is suspended at a height, as a tribute to welcome Lord Krishna.

‘The Gold Leafing Studio’ celebrated Janmashtami by offering their dahi handi that was glided with pure 24k gold. They believe that using gold on dahi handi is a traditional and ethnic gesture. It is signifies the very essence of this festival, that of courage, values, culture and boundless joy. It brings alive the ancestral touch of royalty with conventional morals that takes you back to the times of the Mughal era when almost every precious object was glided with gold. Later, these golden dahi handis were also given to the troop that successfully cracked the handi as a gift prize for the courage that they displayed.

This gesture of ‘The Gold Leafing Studio’ has been widely spoken about and was also covered on various news channels and web portals. It was also termed as ‘the most expensive dahi handi’ across the country that became the pride of Thane and the pleasure of ‘The Gold Leafing Studio’.

The Gold Leafing Studio celebrates Janmashtami by gliding pure Gold on the 'Dahi Handi' that is put up at Thane, Panch Pakhadi area. We have been doing Gold Leafing on the Dahi Handi of Thane since the previous year and we feel proud when people call it to be the most expensive Dahi Handi in Mumbai.
